Right now there are some nice rates on air travel, specially to Europe, from now until probablly May or the start of summer. I have not seen these prices since a long time. What I have found is that if you do a search on Tuesday at around midnight, you get better prices than other days. Also try leaving on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday and stay at least a Saturday.

Need to install another OS on your computer but do not want to dual boot? Use VirtualPC - now free courtesy of Microsoft. I use it to test other OS's and to just play around since you can save (or not) virtual sessions. I could not get Ubuntu Linux to work so I had to use VmWare server - free too! Software virtualization is all the buzz right now and for good reason. Try them.

Need to connect to your computer remotely? Many times I need to connect to computers remotely to help other people. I used to use PCAnyWhere and VNC but they were a hassle to install. I have been investing for quite a while. I started with Sharebuilder but now I use BuyAndHold.com. It is a lot cheaper to trade using "windows." I have had no problems with them. I buy ETFs and some single stocks. I would recommend ETFs as your core portfolio. Mix in some gold and enerygy stocks and voila - instant portfolio. Going back to my account of preference, BuyAndHold, I wonder why not
